Performa dan Karakteristik Karkas Domba Ekor Gemuk Jantan yang Diberi Pakan Ampas Tahu dan Pencukuran Wol

Twelve fat-tailed rams feed with soybean tofu waste and shorn threated were fattened for twelve weeks in order to identify the difference its performance and carcass characteristics. The research designed by Complete Random Design with factorial pattern (2x2). First treatment was feed type (P1 = grass + concentrates and P2 = grass + concentrates + soybean tofu waste). The second treatment was shorn treated (C1 = wool not sheared and C2 = wool sheared). Production performance was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), while data of carcass characteristic was analyzed by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Half of carcass weight was used as covariable. The result showed that 30% of soybean tofu waste and shorn treated was significantly (P<0.05) affected average daily gain of fat-tailed rams. Fat percentage of fat-tailed was relatively similar after that consumed 30% soybean tofu waste or not, slaughtered of fat tailed rams at 22.57 kg produce percentage carcass of 41.97% to 46.91%, percentage carcass muscle 56.54%, carcass fat 20.14%, and carcass bone 21.27%. Dua belas ekor domba ekor gemuk (DEG) jantan yang diberi pakan ampas tahu dan pencukuran wol digemukkan selama dua belas minggu digunakan untuk menguraikan perbedaan performa dan karakteristik karkas. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial (2x2). Perlakuan pertama yaitu pemberian pakan yang berbeda (P1= rumput + konsentrat dan P2= rumput + konsentrat + ampas tahu). Perlakuan kedua yaitu pencukuran wol (C1= Wol tidak dicukur dan C2= Wol dicukur). Data performa produksi dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), sedangkan data karakteristik karkas dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA), dimana bobot awal dan bobot karkas kiri digunakan sebagai covariable. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan 30% ampas tahu dan pencukuran wol memiliki interaksi secara nyata (P<0.05) dalam meningkatkan pertambahan bobot badan harian domba. Pemberian pakan 30% ampas tahu menghasilkan persentase lemak tubuh yang relatif sama yang dipotong pada bobot rata-rata 22.57 kg menghasilkan persentase karkas sebesar 41.97% sampai 46.91% dengan persentase persentase otot karkas 56.54%, lemak karkas 20.14%, dan tulang karkas 21.27%.
