      Abstract
Foreign investment is a key element in achieving economic growth because it can encourage industrialization and expanding employment opportunities. Java has a strategic location because it is central to the economy and have a fairly good infrastructure, thus becoming an important factor for investors to improve the efficiency of investing. This study uses panel data covering six provinces in Java Island in 2001-2011. Independent variables used include the rate of inflation (IFL), gross regional domestic product (GRDP), length of road infrastructure (GDI), and the provincial minimum wage (UMP), while the dependent variable used is foreign direct investment (FDI). Results of analysis of panel data method shows the rate of inflation, gross regional domestic product and the long road infrastructure has a positive effect on foreign investment, while the provincial minimum wage does not influence on foreign investment
