      Abstract
Acceleration of the process of recovery of damaged reefs require rehabilitation, management and supervision of well-planned and sustainable. One of the rehabilitation process is to create artificial reef. This study aims to look at the rate of attachment of sessile organisms on cement media. Size of cement media is 5x5x1 cm with a total of 270 media on each shelf. The cement media were deployed at a depth of 6 meters and 10 meters. The rate of attachment of sessile organisms were compared between the upper and lower of the media side at each depth and between depths. The study found biota colonization who attached on the media at 6 meters (14.44±0.79% of brown algae, 12.41±0.81% of sponges, 7.02±0.71% of red algae, 3.64±0.49% of green algae, 2.96±0.37% of shells, 0.19±0.04% of worm) and at 10 meters (10.31±0.81% of sponges, 7.38±0.52% of shells, 5.88±0.5% of brown algae, 3.85±0.53% of red algae, 1.75±0.38% of green algae, 0.93±0.16% of worm). Percentage of coverage of sessile biota at a depth of 6 meters was higher than 10 meters. Percentage of coverage of sponges at a depth of 6 meters and 10 meters, showed no significantly different (P = 0.0670). The other sessile biota showed significant differences between depths, such as the brown algae (P < 0.0001), red algae (P = 0.0003), and green algae (P = 0.0022). The type succession occurs in this research was likely a primary succession
