Estimasi Simpanan Karbon di Atas Permukaan Lahan Reklamasi PT ANTAM UBPE Pongkor, Provinsi Jawa Barat

Abstract

Global Warming is one of the environmental issues that are currently flare hit many areas in the world. The effects of global warming must be mitigate, so it attempts to do is to reduce emissions or increase sequestration of carbon and carbon stocks. Efforts to increase the absorption of carbon stocks indirectly by mining companies in the form of implementation of mined land reclamation. The role of mined land reclamation activities is actually important in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, it is necessary to study carbon stock in the biomass of reclamation area. One aspect of the research is important to know the potential of the carbon stored in the reclamation area. The potential of the carbon stored onsite reclamation area can be measured of the success of reclamation activities, one of which was done by PT Antam UBPE Pongkor. The objective of this study was to quantify the carbon stocks on the reclamation area of PT Antam UBPE Pongkor. The research activities was carried out using non-destructive method, which estimates the carbon content without cutting the trees by using parameters such as diameter at breast height and tree height. The study shows that the reclamation area PT Antam UBPE Pongkor above ground contains biomass amounted to 127.89 ton ha-1 and the carbon content of 58.77 ton ha-1. The result consist four potential of biomass, which is standing forest, litter, lower plants and necromass with each biomass and carbon content of 122.75 ton ha-1, 2.45 ton ha-1, 1.28 ton ha-1, 1.41 ton ha-1 and 56.41 ton ha-1, 1.13 ton ha-1, 0.59 ton ha-1, 0.65 ton ha-1. This study is expected to provide data and information about carbon storage in any location belonging to the reclamation area of PT Antam UBPE Pongkor.
