      Development and Testing of Organic Container Seedlings on the Growth of Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria (L) Nielsen) in the Greenhouse

      Abstract
      Introduction. Organic Container Seedlings (OCS) is a container made from organic materials which serves as container seedling growth. OCS have advantages compared to polybags because in addition to functioning as a container seedling growth also environmentally friendly. This study tried to develop and test OCS added with natural tannin adhesive and tapioca their possibility for forest trees planting stock production in the green house. Materials and methods. This study used Completely Randomized Experimental design with 2 factors experiment, namely raw material composition and natural adhesive. The observed variables were shape and strength of container, seedling growth, seedling height, seed diameter, top root ratio and biomass plants. The data obtained were analyzed with F test (Analysis of Variance). If there was variable which showed significant difference between treatments, further test was performed with Duncan multiple range test. Results and Conclusions. According to results of Analysis of Variance, the interaction between raw material composition and natural adhesive had highly significant effect on sengon growth in greenhouse. Treatment given tannin adhesive has a best shape and strength of container with value indicators 96%. Factor of natural adhesive, raw material composition and interaction between them had highly significant effect on sengon growth. K3 treatment (Pulp+compos+tannin) has increase the sengon growth by 96,42% of the control. Tannin adhesives increase sengon growth by 33,42% of the control and composs media composition has increase the sengon growth by 31,96% of the control. The best adhesive is tannin which increase diameter growth by about 9,09% of the control. Factor of raw material composition has highly significant effect on top root ratio and biomass plant of sengon especially for m3 treatment (compos), it has 0,65 gram of biomass.
