      Abstract
      The study of hydro-climate in this research is as new assessment of crop plants cultivation requirement, which is an aromatic rice paddy variety of Pandanwangi Cianjur (Pare Ageung). The study aims to: 1) identification correlation behind of hydro-climate and Pandanwangi rice paddy cultivation; 2) assess criteria of hydro-climate suitability for Pandanwangi rice paddy cultivation; 3) assess the impact of hydro-climate to social aspect of pandanwangi cultivation activity in Cianjur. Retrieval of data and information in the form of (i) literature review and (ii) field surveys: includes interviews to Pandanwangi farmers with documentation. The results showed that: 1) hydro-climate can influence to Pandanwangi cultivation activity: some hydro-climate parameters: land position at watershed, type of reservoir, and temporal characteristic of water depth (irrigation) can influence to Pandanwangi cultivation area size; 2) criteria of hydro-climate suitability for Pandanwangi rice paddy cultivation, consisting of: i) Temperature-elevation variation: Pandanwangi paddy field area must at temperature 22-24oC at elevation 500-800 meters above sea level (more cooler 2-3oC and more height) than general paddy field in low land at temperature 26-27oC and elevation less than 250 meters above sea level; ii) Koppen classification: Af (humid tropic); iii) land position at watershed: upper course of watershed with natural irrigation reservoir; and iv) characteristic of water depth: irrigation must available continually/continuously in 160 days flooded in a one time planting period of 180 days; 3) hydro-climate can make the suitable environment for cultivation being limited, so the original product of pandanwangi rice at market are limited to.
