Pengelolaan Lanskap Ketapang sebagai Bottleneck Habitat Sikep Madu Asia (Pernis ptilorynchus) ke Pulau Kalimantan
Abstract
The migration of animals is a periodic movement of animals from the place where they has been living to the area is new and then travel back to their natural habitat, like Oriental Honey Buzzard (OHB). The OHB’s migration routes to Borneo Island passes through Ketapang as a bottleneck habitat. The objective of this research were 1) to identify the landscape characteristics of the OHB’s bottleneck habitat in Ketapang, 2) to analyze a potential of ecotourism based on OHB’s migration, 3) to compare characteristics of bottleneck habitat in Ketapang with wintering habitat in South Kalimantan and 4) to produce the landscape management plan of OHB’s bottleneck habitat. The landscape characteristics in bottleneck habitat was analyzed by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) combined with Geographic Information System (GIS). The potential of ecotourism in Ketapang specified from purposive sampling that assisted by creating a grid on satellite tracking points and discussions with the experts. Seven principal components (PCs) were retained which is explained 76,2% of data variance in bottleneck habitat, T-Student test method was used to compare environmental variables between bottleneck habitat in Ketapang and previous study about wintering habitat in South Kalimantan, then the result was different, and specified five location that have potential of ecotourism in Ketapang. Management of bottleneck habitat can be planned with a certain period (short term and long term), and the ecotourism based on raptor migration can be developed in Ketapang.
