Mangrove Ecosystem Management Based on Silvofishery (The Case of RPH-Tegal Tangkil, KPH Purwakarta, Blanakan Subang

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem management based on silvofishery has been already known and practiced widely, both in Indonesia and abroad. However, today it’s difficult to find silvofishery application that comply the right principles, even on biotechnical, ecologies, and institutions aspect. The aims of this research were: 1) to know ecology status, biotechnical, and economics of silvofishery system at RPH Tegal-Tangkil; 2) to formulate silvofishery management at RPH Tengal-Tangkil, Blanakan, Subang. The data were collected related to ecology, economic, and social-institution aspect. Results of this research were: 1) mangrove ecosystem has given significant contribution on shrimp catches; 2) water quality condition still suitable for fish aquaculture activities, even though there was indication of heavy metal content, so that need to improve tendon system for better water quality; 3) as biotechnical, many of the farmers still use traditional aquaculture and not implement good standards and aquaculture principles. 4) as economics, silvofishery system still can be developed to increase peoples income. Good silvofishery application can increase peoples income up to 509. 60%; 5) institute management of silvofishery was still deficient. It’s showed from fact condition in the field. Improvement the silvofishery management must be focus on organization system and rules of the game.
