The objectives of the studies were: ( 1) to develop dependable in vitro propagation method in obtaining vigerous planlets by using retardant, (2) to develop method of obtaining detectable in vitro variation both spontaneous as well as using irradiation technique.
Research was conducted in series of experiments, ( 1) three preliminary experiments (cv "Scania", "Calypso" and "White candy") , ( 2} two experiments on propagation and :somaclonal variation (cv "Scania" and "Pink Spray"), one ,experiment on aclimatitation (cv "Pink Spray"), and (3) two ,experiments on callus embryogenesis (cv "Scania", "Pink Spray", "Red Corso", and "Lanras"). The purpose of the preliminary field experiment was to study the growth pattern of cutting upto flowering. Lab experiments were designed to study the effects of auxin IAA, cytokinin BAP and kinetin on shoot formation, and concentration level of :2, 4-D, cytokinin BAP and kinentin on callus induction.
