Geographic Information System of Hotspot Distribution in The Province of Central Kalimantan Using Pmapper Framework

Abstract

There are several sites that provide information about hotspot distribution in Province of Central Kalimantan based on data up to December 2009, such as www.pkhl.or.id and www.geospasial.bnbp.go.id. However, these sites only provide information in the form of tables or static map (image in JPEG format) which is not displayed in a full and complete form. Another problem is that the information provided through this map is not informative enough and can not searching hotspot distribution by time interval. Therefore, the Geographic Information Systems of Hotspot Distribution in Province of Central Kalimantan is developed as the solution to these problems. This Geographic Information System of Hotspot Distribution in Province of Central Kalimantan is developed by using the GIS Development Guide published by the Department of Geography at Buffalo, on Microsoft Windows platform using Pmapper framework 3.2.0, PostgreSQL 8.3, PostGIS 1.2.1, and MS4W 2.3.1. The functions of this system are to zooming in/out the map, searching for locations, printing a map in the form of PDF or HTML, adding a new object and retrieving information related to the location. The Geographic Information Systems of Hotspot Distribution in Province of Central Kalimantan is developed as an improvement to Pmapper features, this research added facility to search hotspot by time interval, provides information about the locations of hotspot distribution in the Province of Central Kalimantan in full, web-based, dynamic and interactive form. The included informations are regional boundaries, contour line, roads, rivers, lakes, coastline, airport, and cities.
