      Abstract
      Wood from community forest generally had a low resistant to subterranean termite, so the service life is shorter than the timber from natural forest. To increase the service life we need a way or process according to the use, one of it is the preservation processing. The purpose of this research was to determine the resistance of three wood species from community forest using preservation boron compounds (boric acid 45% + borac pentahedrat 54%) with a concentration of 1.5%, 3% and 4.5% BAE.
       
      Kayu yang berasal dari hutan rakyat umumnya mempunyai ketahanan yang rendah sehingga umur pakainya lebih pendek dibandingkan kayu dari hutan alam. Untuk meningkatkan umur pakainya maka perlu dilakukan cara atau proses yang sesuai dengan penggunaannya, salah satunya adalah proses pengawetan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ketahanan tiga jenis kayu dengan memakai bahan pengawet persenyawaan boron (asam borat 45% + Boraks pentahedrat 54%) dengan konsentrasi 1,5%, 3% dan 4,5% BAE. Jenis kayu yang digunakan adalah kayu karet (Hevea brasiliensis), mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla) dan mindi (Melia azedarach). Metode pengawetan yang digunakan adalah rendaman dingin selama 10 hari , dan pengukusan 2 jam dan rendam dingin 2 hari. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium dan lapangan.
