Abstract

Biplot gives an overview of the study program configuration based on First Year students’ Achievement. The data used in this study are the scores of 14 subjects and grade point average (GPA) of first year students in academic year of 2008/2009-2010/2011. In this study, goodness of fit of the biplot is analyzed via Procrustes analysis. Data exploration is carried out using variable frequency, average score of subjects, GPA, boxplot of variables, and Spearmant’s correlation matrix. Procrutes analysis is used to measure similarity between two study program configurations according to whole data matrix, the two dimensional variable matrix. The results show that the study program configuration in academic year of 2009/2010. Moreover, the biplot obtained from the three academic years produce goodness of fit of the data matrix less than 65%. This means that there will be distortion of the images obtained from the biplot, and therefore, the conclutions should be supported by the results of data exploration. The results of this study are expected to provide information of the advantages for each study program at IPB to improve their academic quality.
