      Abstract
Measuring network availability is a routine activity that many network administrators perform for their monthly report. Usually, every measurement application that calculates and reports the percentage of availability is based on the devices uptime. The measurement uses flat weighting for all devices with equal priority and determination. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a methodology that can calculate a proportional weight for every alternative or object. Sometimes there are several devices in network that have differences of priority or weight. That differences illustrate or project interests for every single device because in reality there is no guarantee that two devices have the same productivity, activity, characteristic, or end-client. Basically every alternative that is calculated by AHP model has some specific criteria or characteristics that have comparable values. With AHP methodology every single device has a chance to proof its domination with respect to other devices. The result of AHP weighting can be used to make a strategic decision to maintain all network nodes. The final result of implementing AHP in this research shows some differences at minimum uptime target and maximum downtime target. The delta of downtime between implementing AHP and non-AHP is a proof of time optimization. The delta of availability percentage between AHP and non-AHP can be an advantage or a disadvantage for availability result. That result is not a static percentage because it really depends on other alternative’s availability percentage. The AHP availability trend is very proportional based on it priority and weight. Device weight is directly related to uptime target and is used to calculate the maximum downtime target as the final decision.
