The Characteristics of Hatching Egg Qualities and Somite Development From Different Storage Time of Arabic Chikens Egg

Abstract

The storage time of hatching egg is one of important factors caused a reduction of hatching egg qualities followed by a negative impact of embrio development, mainly the somite development. Till now, there are limited data of somite development of Arabic chicken embryo. Therefore research of the impact of the hatching egg storage on somite development of Arabic chicken embrio is important to be observed since the storage of hatching egg highly impact the quality of Day Old Chick (DOC). The Complete Randomized Design was used in this research. A nineteen of hatching egg of Arabic chickens from 42 weeks of hen age with 0, 7, and 12 day of storage prior to incubation were used to determine the characteristic of hatching egg of arabic chicken and somite development. The embryo collection and preparat preparation included of following steps harvesting, washing, and fixing of embryo, washing of embryo with alcohol 70%, staining and mounting of embryo. The development of somite observed on 24, 33-36, and 48 hour after incubation. The storage time of eggs didn”t significantly effect the weight, shape index, weight of shell and shell thickness of hatching eggs. The increasing of storage time delayed the development of somite and the increasing of the cell dead.

Umur telur merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas telur tetas yang digunakan dalam penetasan. Penyimpanan telur yang semakin lama akan menurunkan kualitas telur. Kualitas telur tetas meliputi kualitas eksterior dan interior, faktor ini dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan embrio di dalam telur. Perkembangan embrio meliputi pembentukan tulang belakang (somite). Sampai saat ini data tentang perkembangan somite pada ayam lokal terutama ayam Arab masih terbatas, sehingga diperlukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh umur telur terhadap perkembangan somite pada ayam lokal (ayam Arab). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik telur tetas dan perkembangan tulang belakang (somite) embrio ayam Arab pada umur telur yang berbeda. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai umur telur tetas yang sebaiknya digunakan dalam penetasan.
