Pengaruh Infestasi Parasit Darah (Anaplasma sp., Theileria sp., dan Babesia sp.) pada Nilai Leukosit Kuda (Equus caballus

Abstract

This study was made to observe the effect of blood parasite (Anaplasma sp., Theileria sp., and Babesia sp.) on leukocyte value in horse. The blood samples were taken from 6 crossbred horses (3 male and 3 female) positively infected by blood parasite (Anaplasma sp., Theileria sp., and Babesia sp.) with variant age (2-10 years old) in URR, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University. Blood samples were taken every 2 weeks for 2 months. The blood leukocyte value were analyzed using variance analysis (ANOVA). Average of Anaplasma sp., Theileria sp., and Babesia sp. in those horses was 1.05%, 1.01%, and 0.68%, respectively. Horses with mild parasitemia were not show clinical sign and potentially become parasite carrier. Based on the research the mild infestation of blood parasite (Anaplasma sp., Theileria sp., and Babesia sp.) was not significantly influence the leukocyte value.
