      Abstract
      INTRODUCTION. One of small diameter log utilization is by composite products, for example particle board because particle board can ignoring size and quality of wood as its raw material. The utilization of small diameter log into particleboard excpect to cover its low durability properties. So the research needed to find the durability of small diameter log particle board. The purpose of this study was to determine the durability of particleboard from Kempas and Tusam to termite attack (Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren). MATERIALS AND METHOD. This study used particleboard made from Kempas and Tusam woods with density target were 0.8 g/cm3 and 0.9 g/cm3. This particleboard were adding urea formaldehyde (UF) 12% and paraffin 2%. Durability test against subterranean termite attack were used methods based on SNI 01.7207-2006. Testing with these method was determining the durability of particleboard based on the value of particleboard weight loss, feeding rate and termite mortality during the test period. RESULTS. The result gained after test of termites attack are Kempas wood have smaller weight loss than Tusam wood. Statistically wood species factor showed a significant result also density target factor. Based on average value of weight loss, Kempas wood has better durability properties than Tusam wood. Density target 0,9 g/cm3 have smaller average value of weight loss than density target 0,8 g/cm3. Compared with solid wood, there insignificant different statistically between solid wood and particleboard, thus durability properties of solid wood and particleboard disposed equal. Termites mortality are high, by interval 80,5%-100%. In the end of test there wasn’t any living termite on particleboard, but on solid wood there was any. Feeding rate value on Kempas wood was smaller than Tusam wood.
