      Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine the potential and efficacy of hexane fraction of turmeric ointment on skin wound healing process of hyperglicemic mice based on gross lesion and histopathology observation. Thirty female mice ± 2 months old with body weight ± 20-25 g were used as experimental animals. Streptozotosin were induced at mice with dose of 40 mg/kg body weight intraperitoneally and were waited 1-2 weeks until blood sugar rate rised up to 200 mg/dl. Mice were wounded by scalpel blade on back area around 1.5 cm. Mice were divided into three groups, which were negative control, positive control, and a group treated with hexane fraction of turmeric ointment. The follow-up times was taken every 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, and 21st days. Each follow-up, two mice from each treatment group get euthanased and then were measured to length change observations cuts and wounds of anatomic pathology (PA) and skin samples were taken for histopathology preparations. PA observations showed that wound healing process in the treated with hexane fraction of turmeric ointment was faster than other treatment groups. Histopathology showed that hexane fraction of turmeric ointment could reduce inflammation process (antiinflammatory), reephitelisation and collagen tissue in hyperglycemic mice. It can be concluded that hexane fraction of turmeric ointment might accelerate wound healing process in hyperglicemic mice.
