The aim of this study is to determine diuretic activity of hexane and ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract avocado leaves in Sprague-Dawley rats. The result of phytochemical screening on hexane and ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract avocado leaves showed the existing of flavonoid and tannin. Thirty rats were used in this study, divided into six groups: aquadest as normal control (A), furosemid 1.8 mg/kg bw as positive control (B), ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract avocado leaves 100 mg/kg bw (C) and 300 mg/kg bw (D), and hexane fraction of ethanol extract avocado leaves 100 mg/kg bw (E) and 300 mg/kg bw (F) as treatments which were studied. Lipschitsz method was applied in this study by taking each treatment material with doses 1 ml/100gram bw to the rats by orally. Diuretic activity was evaluated by measuring volume and pH of urine and observing urine’s color. Urine’s volume measured in 24 hours. Hexane fraction of ethanol extract avocado leaves 300 mg/kg bw showed the most optimum result with 24.7 ml urine’s volume and supported by urine’s color which was the brightest one.
