Improve Plant Growth of Pinus (Pinus merkusii Jungh et de Vriese) by Lateral Root Manipulation Technique (LRM) in Quartzite Post Mining Land of Holcim Inc, Cibadak, Sukabumi Regency
Perbaikan Pertumbuhan Tanaman Pinus (Pinus merkusii Jungh et de Vriese) dengan Teknik Lateral Root Manipulation (LRM) di Lahan Pasca Tambang Pasir Kuarsa PT Holcim Tbk, Cibadak, Kabupaten Sukabumi
Abstract
Soil condition in post mining land can not be able to support plant growth physically. The soil in that area is acid and compacted so that gives negative impact to the function and the growth of roots. The roots can not grow properly and its function for nutrient absorption will be disrupted. It makes plant can not grow normally and stunted (stagnant). Lateral Root Manipulation (LRM) is one of techniques that can be used to overcome the stagnation of the plant by doing the lateral roots cutting, soil amendment, and fertilizing. This research was aimed to observe the response of pinus (Pinus merkusii Jungh et de Vriese) growth in quarzite mining post land of PT Holcim Tbk, Cibadak, Sukabumi Regency. The research was done by using the factorial randomized block design method with 3 factors. The fisrt factor is lateral roots cutting, the second is HSC application, and the third is Terabuster fertilizing. The observed parameters of plant growth are stem diameter and sapling height. The results indicate that treatment of lateral roots cutting by LRM technique, the HSC application, and Terabuster fertilizing can stimulate the growth of stem diameter and sapling height. The combination treatment of lateral roots cutting, HSC 5% application, and Terabuster 10% fertilizing show the best effect on diameter and height growth.
