      Abstract
Radiation transmission is part of the essential components of energy balance and known as energy for plant in the understory. Recently, remote sensing is solution for limited measurement in a wider scale. However, the calculation transmission of radiation using satellite needs to be corrected because the quantity of radiation transmission depends on solar elevation which is an error source for satellite imagery. For that reason, diurnal measurement of radiation transmission is important to be analyzed. This study has done in Forest Research and Development Agency Ministry of Forestry Bogor and also known as ‘Hutan Penelitian Dramaga’ using solarimeter. Three sample locations shown different density and distribution stands. Radiation was measured under trees, poles and sampling canopy. Transmission of solar radiation under tree canopy (17%) was higher than under pole (14%) and sapling (14%). There was a lag between peak of transmission under tree canopies with poles and sapling canopies. Diurnal observation shown that transmission in the morning (17%) was higher than the late afternoon (12%) and the highest was during midday (19%). This study also gave a distribution class of radiation transmission under canopy based on amount of incoming solar radiation and time. The amount of radiation transmission was strongly influenced by canopy architecture, level of cloudiness and solar elevation.
