      Abstract
Bangun-bangun (Coleus amboinicus Lour) is believed to increase mothers’s milk production by Batak Toba’s people. This plant has soft stem, ovale hairy leaves, and a specific smell. The addition of bangun-bangun into mammal’s diet is expected to increase the milk production so that the milk requirement for the babies will be enough and the babies growth will be optimum. This supplement will be important for pig that have big litter size compared to the other mammals. This research was carried out on May until July 2009 at Rachel Farm in Kampung Baru, Tajur Halang Village, Bogor Regency, West Java. The objective of this research was to find out the optimum level and the effect of bangun-bangun leaves meal which was added to the sow’s lactating diet. There were four level of bangun-bangun leaves meal used in this research i.e. 0; 1,25; 2,50 and 3,75%, respectively. This research used Randomized Completely Design with four treatments and four replications respectively, so there were sixteen sows needed. Parameters observed were sow’s daily feed consumption, milk yield in once suckling, daily milk yield, milk yield during lactation, and feed convertion to milk yield. Data was analysed with Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) using MINITAB 14. The result showed that bangun-bangun leaves meal had not significant effect on sow’s milk yield, neither with the feed intake and feed conversion. Although statistically there was no significant effect, the production of milk showed difference of milk yield which is added bangun-bangun leaves meal compared to control diet. The volume of milk yield at 1,25% of bangunbangun leaves meal increase up to 2,5% but decreased at 3,75%. In conclusion that the effective level addition of bangun-bangun leaves meal tend to increased sow’s milk yield was 2,5%.
