      Abstract
The aim of the research was to study the response of Streptococcus agalactiae irradiated vaccine on mice. Parameters observed were leukocyte differentiation on peripheral blood, number of spleen lymphoid follicles and its diameters and bone marrow size. Twelve 3 week old female mice were divided into 4 groups : K (without treatment), V (vaccinated with S. agalactiae irradiated vaccine without challenge), VT (vaccinated with S. agalactiae irradiated vaccine then challenged with S. agalactiae), T (challenged with S. agalactiae without vaccine). Vaccines (0,2 ml/mice) were injected intra peritoneal with a dose of 108 cfu/ml and challenge was performed by dropping S. agalactiae through the externa orificium nipple canal of the mice. Blood samples were collected from sinus retro orbitalis arteriae every week that were used for blood smear slides. Necropsy was performed at the end of the study to make histopathology slides of the spleen and bone marrow. Parameters observed were: leukocytes differentiation, number of white pulp and its diameters and bone marrow size. Results showed there was an increase number of neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, white pulp, and a decrease in bone marrow size in the V and VT group. This indicates that the vaccine was able to induce an immune response. On the other hand, this vaccine does not cause allergy characterized by a constant number of basophils and eosinophils.
