Gambaran Histopatologi Hepatitis pada Kalong (Pteropus vampyrus)
Abstract
The aim of this research was to find out an descrption of hepatitis in the large flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus). This research used seventeen livers samples of Pteropus vampyrus from Manado(North Sulawesi) and Ciamis (West Java). The necropsy procedure was performed and livers of Pteropus vampyrus were taken, examined for gross findings and histopathology. The results of observations indicated that three of the samples showed hepatitis; characterized by the presence of granulomatous inflammation. Inflammatory in those samples consisted of necrotic area, neutrophils, macrophages, lymphocytes, and fibrous tissue. Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) staining was done on three samples and the results demonstrated negative to the existence of parasites and fungi. So the cause of granulomatous inflammaton in this study is still not spesific yet.
