Keragaman Morfologi dan Anatomi Kawista (Limonia acidissima L.) di Kabupaten Rembang
Abstract
Kawista or Kawis (Limonia acidissima L.) is a unique fruit in Rembang Regency, Center of Java that used to produce syrup tasted like cola favour. Kawista trees in Rembang are quite a lot, but their population could decrease due to replanting from seeds need 15 years to be fruiting. Kawista diversity in this area has not been reported. The objective of this research was to analyze the diversity of kawista in Rembang. Tree samples were taken randomly and proportionally according to the number of kawista trees in five subdistricts in Rembang regency. Morphological characters observed were length and width of leaf, leaf color, fruit diameter, fruit color, and stem color. Anatomical characters were observed on the paradermal and transversal leaf section preparates. Morphological, anatomical data, and both were analyzed separately using NTSYS ver. 2.1 and the relationship among kawista tree samples from 5 subdistricts in Rembang was grouped on similarity dendrogram. Based on the leaf morphology, fruit, and stem color of kawista trees, from 5 subdistricts in Rembang regency have not 100% similarity and quite diverse, although some trees were very similar, but not always from the same subdistrict. Kawista tree based leaf anatomy was diversed if compared to their morphology. However, based on morphology and anatomy character of kawista tree in Rembang has 75% similarity.
