Inhibisi Ekstrak Etanol Biji Boroco dan Akar Alang-alang terhadap Aktivitas Enzim Pengubah Angiotensin I secara In Vitro

Abstract

ACE catalyzes transformation of ACE I to ACE II which could increase blood pressure. Celosia argentea (boroco) seeds and Imperata cylindrica (alangalang) roots are medicinal plants potential as antihypertension agent. Thirty percent ethanol extracts of boroco seeds and alang-alang roots were investigated towards in vitro angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition activity. The study was conducted at the optimum enzyme condition (32 °C of incubation temperature, pH 8.3, and 25 mU/mL of ACE concentration) using 8, 25, 50, and 100 ppm of single extract concentration. The results were compared with captopril as positive control. Inhibition test of ACE showed that 100 ppm of boroco seeds and 100 ppm of alang-alang roots have 10,71% and 25,74% inhibition. Captopril have the highest inhibition (86,89%) at 100 ppm.
