Abstract
Javan porcupine (Hystrix javanica) is one of the Indonesian endangered species due to hunting by local communities for commercial purpose. One of alternative methods to preserve the species is domestication through ex-situ breeding. The objective of this study was to examine the influence of koi fish pellet added to the ration on Javan porcupine carcass characteristics. This experiment used eight Javan porcupines fattened for eight weeks. The result showed that weight and percentage of muscle was significantly different (P<0,05). This research also had found M. Cutaneus trunci on the anatomical structure under skin layers of Javan porcupine. The effect of the addition of koi fish pellet into feed gave a significant effect on the meat weight of Javan porcupine but did not give a significant effect on commercial pieces of the carcass
