      Abstract
      Bali cattle is one of Indonesia indigenous cattle with high adaptivity of environment and feed. The aims of this study was to determine the productivity, potency, and development prospect of bali cattle in Pa'rappunganta village. This research was conducted from July to August 2011 in Pa’rappunganta village, Takalar region, South Sulawesi. Primary data was obtained through interviewed of 42 farmers. Secondary data was obtained from the village government and related agencies. Data of village profile, farming management and resources were analyzed descriptively. This study also analyzed reproductive characteristic, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) and Increasement Population Capacity of Ruminant (IPCR). The results showed that the age of first oestrus in female bali cattle average was 2,1 years and age of first mating was 2,2 years. Service per conception (S/C) was on average 1,9 times and calving rate mean was 98,1%. Oestrus postpartum of bali cattle in this study was an average of 81.95 days, calving interval was 370±36 days and calf mortality was 5,8%. Result of IPCR analysis showed that capacity of ruminant increase was 137,97 Animal Unit. The result indicated that bali cattle still potential to be developed in Pa’rappunganta village. Result of SWOT analyzed and IPCR showed that bali cattle had a good prospect to be developed in Pa’rappunganta village.
