Study of Environmental Services (Biomass and Carbon) Mangrove Forest at Tanjung Bara, North Sangatta, East Kalimantan
Kajian Potensi Jasa Lingkungan (Biomassa dan Karbon) Hutan Mangrove Di Tanjung Bara, Sangatta Utara, Kalimantan Timur
Abstract
Mangrove forest at Tanjung Bara which has area 841,8 ha (0,52% of forest total area at Sangatta Utara) had important roles to reduced carbon dioxide emission from operational activities of coal mining. This research has purposed to calculated the above-ground biomass and carbon of mangrove vegetation as enviromental services function to carbondioxide emission from operational activities of coal mining. The above-ground biomass of tree was calculated by allometric equation. Carbon storage was calculated with C=0,46% W (above ground biomass). Biomass and carbon of vegetation of seedlings and saplings were calculated through fixed carbon analysis. Result showed that the highly average biomass of mangrove vegetation of Tanjung Bara was 322,68 t/ha on Sonneratia zone. Carbon storage of mangrove vegetation at Tanjung Bara is 109,68 t C/ha or 402,53 t CO2/ha. Mangrove forest at Tanjung Bara given enviromental services potential about 14,34% to reduces carbondioxide emission from operational activities of coal mining.
