The aims of this study were to know the role of enriched L-carnitine diet on development and growth of freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii de Man larval. The experiment was design with Complete Randomize Design. Treatments used were L-carnitine dosages: 0 ppm (control), 200 ppm, 400 ppm, 600 ppm, 800 ppm and 1 000 ppm of which each treatment consist of three replicates. Larval Stage Index, growth and survival rate of freshwater prawn were observed and data collected was analysed using F test. The results showed high significant different (p < 0.01) between treatments. Dosage 600 ppm showed the highest Larval Stage Index and growth of freshwater prawn with 10.4300 and 0.4267 mm/day, respectively. Larval survival rate found not significant (p > 0.05) between treatments 0 ppm (30.4949%), 400 ppm (29.9139%) and 600 ppm (29.0255 %). Future research to determine body protein content and composition of L-carnitine-treated freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii de Man are necessary.
