      Abstract
      District of Pontianak Kota has 22 urban parks to accommodate 104.769 people to socialize as well as, recreate. However, only two parks can be utilized and others in the form of traffic islands, greenways, street lines and small pocket parks. Besides, the two park also poor in quality, amenity as well as management. Urban park, actually, should accommodate the regulrement of city population for using their leisure and recretional time. Good urban park can increasing the quality of the city as well as people. The aims of study was to develop a strategic plan for community-based urban park. Content analysis, Correlation analysis and descriptive analysis was carried out to drawing park condition. It is found that the number and distribution of park are not suitable for the city, park policy is still unrecoqnize by people, and the park management is still dominated by the government. it also found that community have their own choices for park design such as park distance, park benches, type of vegetation, and security post. It is concluded that strategy for community-based park development in district of Pontianak Kota could be implemented by increasing collaboration of each of stakeholders by generating integrated park management program and distribution of park available to meet necessity of people in district of Pontianak Kota.
       
      Kecamatan Kota Pontianak memiliki 22 taman baik itu yang dikelola pihak masyarakat, pihak pemerintah, dan pihak swasta dengan berbagai macam kategori sesuai dengan keperluannya. Tetapi hanya ada 2 taman yang dapat digunakan masyarakat dengan jumlah penduduk sebesar 104.769 jiwa untuk sosialisasi, rekreasi, dan lain sebagainya sedangkan sisanya merupakan pulau jalan, jalur hijau, dan taman kantong. Kebutuhan masyarakat akan ruang terbuka hendaknya memperhatikan jumlah penduduk yang semakin hari semakin bertambah, agar kebutuhan taman dapat terpenuhi. Selain mencangkup dengan kebutuhan akan ruang terbuka permasalahan lain juga sering muncul pada pertamanan seperti fasilitas taman yang kurang terpelihara, kondisi taman yang tidak nyaman untuk dikunjungi seperti panas, dan kurangnya kerjasama dalam pengelolaan taman terutama dari segi biaya.
