Efektivitas Pemberian Ekstrak Etanol Purwoceng (Pimpinella alpina KDS) Selama 21 Hari Laktasi terhadap Bobot Badan Anak Tikus Putih (Rattus norvegicus)

Abstract

Purwoceng is one of Indonesian’s plant that has been known and functions as herb medicine. The goal of this research was to study the effect of ethanol extract of purwoceng during 21 days of lactation on the body weight of pups. Six female lactating rats were devided into two groups; control group and treatment group. Purwoceng extract was given at dose of 25 mg/300 g BW orally for treatment group whereas no treatment given for control group. The body weight of 47 pups were measured until 21 days of lactation. The result obtained was statistically analysed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result showed that treatment group had higher body weight than control group and male pups of the treatment group had higher body weight than female pups of the treatment group.
