Prototipe Sistem Informasi Geografi Pemanfaatan Hutan Tanaman di Indonesia
Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries in the world which has tropical forests. In the context of size, Indonesia has 6% of the world's tropical forests (1046 million hectares) and 13% of all the world commercial timber’s supplies. Seeing these various potential of natural resources, the need for utilizing forest products for either timber or non timber forest in an optimal and fair way for public welfare while maintaining its sustainability. One way to do this is by the utilization of forest plantations. Hence, it is necessary to develop a geographic information system that is useful for disseminating information related to the utilization of forest plantations in Indonesia. Kusumasari (2009) and Muhani (2010) have previously developed an application concerning geographical information systems. These studies has provided a visual and interactive information. However, both studies are limited in Bogor area and the input data are hard-code into system, making it difficult to modify new data. Therefore, in this study, a system was developed using ASP.NET as its framework, supporting database systems which separates the data into the database to make it easier to manipulate the data. This study was developed by using spatial data obtained from the Directorate General of Forest Production Development (FDP) and was presented visually in maps and was based on web to facilitate in information search process related to utilization of forest plantations in Indonesia. The main function of this system is to display the overlay of map data on Google Maps, to provide zoom function, and to show the attributes of or the description from an interactive map. This system also provides a search function based on type of report, location, type of crop and type of forest utilization
