      Abstract
      Forest was nature resource that very important and worthwhile for life. Existence of forest has critical role to decrease CO2 in atmosphere caused by its ability to absorb carbon and release it in form of O2. Forest in Indonesia have great potential in decreasing of Green House Gasses (GHG), and the ability of planted forest to store carbon was affected by planted species, condition on planted area and silviculture technique or intensity of the maintenance. Acacia (Acacia crassicarpa) was one of pioneer tree that has short leaf and fast growing which cultured in industrial planted forest caused by its ability to store carbon in huge quantity. Ability of Acacia to fix carbon was still in ongoing research stage, especially to support global issue that could be utilized from industrial planted forest. This research was conducted in area of IUPHHK-HT PT. Wana Subur Lestari. The selected area is a forest of Acacia crassicarpa on the of age 6 months and 12 months. This research was supposed to estimate potential of carbon storage in tree and to know the effect of stand’s age to tree’s carbon storage. Obtained data then processed through biomass approach and then conversed into carbon storage in ton/ha. To know the effect of stand’s age factor to carbon storage, it was analyzed by using t-test. Tree’s carbon in 12 monts aged Acacia stand has higher carbon storage value, that was 10.4749 ton/ha, than carbon storage of 6 months aged Acacia stand, that was 3.6241 ton/ha. Result of statistical test by using t-test shows that pvalue < 0.001 in significant degree 5%, which mean that stand’s age has significant effect to the value of tree’s carbon storage.
       
      Hutan merupakan sumberdaya alam yang sangat penting dan bermanfaat dalam kehidupan. Keberadaan hutan mempunyai peran penting dalam mengurangi CO2 di atmosfer, karena hutan mampu menyerap dan menyimpan karbon serta mengeluarkannya dalam bentuk O2. Hutan di Indonesia memiliki potensi yang besar dalam mengurangi Gas Rumah Kaca (GRK), dan kemampuan hutan tanaman dalam menyimpan karbon dipengaruhi oleh jenis yang ditanam, kondisi tempat tumbuh dan teknik silvikultur atau intensitas pemeliharannya. Pohon akasia (Acacia crassicarpa) merupakan salah satu jenis pohon pionir berdaur pendek dan cepat tumbuh yang dibudidayakan di hutan tanaman industri, karena kemampuannya menyimpan karbon dalam jumlah besar. Kemampuan tanaman akasia dalam mengikat karbon masih dalam tahap penelitian yang dilakukan terus sampai saat ini, khususnya dalam mendukung isu global yang bisa dimanfaatkan dari hutan tanaman industri. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di areal lahan IUPHHK-HT PT. Wana Subur Lestari. Areal yang dipilih adalah hutan tanaman Acacia crassicarpa umur 6 bulan dan 12 bulan. Penelitian dimulai dari bulan Juni sampai Agustus 2011. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi simpanan karbon pada pohon dan mengetahui apakah umur tegakan berpengaruh terhadap simpanan karbon pohon. Hasil yang data yang diperoleh diolah melalui pendekatan biomassa yang kemudian dikonversi menjadi simpanan karbon dalam ton/ha. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor umur tegakan terhadap simpanan karbon digunakan analisis dengan menggunakan uji-t. Karbon pohon pada tegakan Akasia umur 12 bulan memiliki nilai simpanan karbon sebesar 10.4749 ton/ha sedangkan simpanan karbon pohon pada tegakan umur 6 bulan nilainya lebih kecil,yaitu hanya 3,6241 ton/ha. Hasil uji statistik menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan nilai p-value < 0,001 pada taraf nyata 5%, yang artinya bahwa umur tegakan mempengaruhi nilai simpanan karbon pohon
