The Olele marine protected area can be categorized as an area which needs to be managed properly in order to maintain the sustainability of its available resources, especially fisheries resources. Evaluation of sustainability in the region using the emergy synthesis, ecological footprint approach to fisheries and human appropriation of net primary production (HANPP). The aimed of this research were to analysed the sustainability of space for metabolism of social ecological fishery utilization, utilization of fisheries net primary productivity and efficiency, and the process input-output energy in fish production and economic sustainability. Emergy resulted sustainability index (ESI) at 7.48 sej/yr which means that economic growth in this area is fairly well preserved or developing economy, and do not have a significant environment impact due fishing activity. The sustainability of space for the metabolism of ecological social fishery system in this area is still at 1.96 km2/capita or undershoot conditions. The low value of HANPP at 1.79E109 kJ indicates that fishers dominance for the fishery production activities have not been maximal with great efficiency. Implementation of management strategies about "what" to be performed and management tactics that relate to "how" it's done is considered the most efficient for sustainable fisheries.
