      Abstract
      Food is human basic need, and fulfilling food necessity is human right for everyone. Moreover, food that is consumed must be safe and good quality. Food contamintaed by microbe, chemical substance or heavy metal can be caused by many conditions such as in production and post harvest handling by farmer. Therefore the objective of this research was to analyze farmer's behavior in the production and postharvest management of fresh food (vegetables). Specifically, this research was aimed to: Indentifity socio economic characteristics of the farmers; 2) analyze farmer's knowledge all attitude about Good Agricultural Practices (GAP); 3) analyze the correlationship of fatner's knowledge, attitude and socio economic condition with the behavior in the production and post-harvest management; 4) analyze factors influencing farmer's behavior in production and post harvest management. A survey and cross sectional study design were applied in this study are chosen purposively, ie: Sukarame Village in Balik bukit Subdistrict and Sekincau Village in Sekincau Subdistrict. The sixty respondents ~e chosen randomly using stratified sampling method. The data was analyzed dgscriptively and inferentially. Fresh food farmers in Lampung Barat District had low kjowledge about GAP and also had attitude and behavior that was not appropriate with ~P. Activity in farm group and attitude about GAP had significant correlationship with behaviour in production and post harvest management. The farmer's attitude about GAP h~ bigger influence on the behavior than the activity in farm group.
