      Abstract
      Hydroacoustic method is used to gain an underwater information, either 0l@ts or targets by radiating the acoustic wave and analyzing the received echo. :t Bintuni Bay as the research area is a shallow bay and relatively ho~ogeneous. So far, evaluations and studies of fisheries resources have been do@: in Bintuni bay is more focused on the resources of shrimps and demersal fis~ The goal of this study is to understand fish schools structure and its disBibutions in Bintuni bay by using dual beam acoustic method. " Description of fish schools distributions is conducted by plotting the deviation of back scattered energy on the survey area, depth, temperature and sal,mity. The fish schools structure is analyzed using acoustic descriptor and folJj)wed by statistic analysis, including factor analysis, canonical correlation anS ysis, cluster analysis. and discriminant analysis. S. The distribution of fish schools in Bintuni bay based on time scale, 100!itudinal, latitudinal, and the depth of the bay did not show any specific pa1M!m. The existence of fish schools are distributed in the centre part of the bay (1~.5-133.53 °BT) and based on the depth layer, the distribution of the fish sc~ols relative density is concentrated on the depth of 5-30 m. ~ The formation of fish schools in inter-time observation is less indicated by utiijzing bathymetric descriptor. On the other hand it was more indicated by using m~hometric and energetic descriptor. Indication of average fish schools structure in inter-time observation using bathymetric, morphometric, and energetic descriptor give information that from the position in the surface layer, is oval shape with the schools width is narrow, it has medium cross-sectional area and does not tend to repeat on the same shape (disordered characteristic).
       
      Metode hidroakustik digunakan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang b~ atau kejadian di dalam air dengan memancarkan gelombang suara (akustik) da'i?'menganalisis gema yang diterimanya. ~ Teluk Bintuni sebagai daerah penelitian termasuk perairan dangkal, tenang da: relatif homogen. Evaluasi dan pengkajian terhadap sumberdaya laut di Teluk Biiiuni yang pernah dilakukan selama ini lebih terfokus pada sumberdaya udang d~ sumberdaya ikan demers.al yang terdapat di perairan tersebut. Penelitian ini ber=ujuan untuk mem berikan informasi dan pengetahuan mengenai distribusi dan s4tur kelompok ikan di perairan Teluk Bintuni dengan menggunakan metode ak~tik bim ganda. ;- Penggambaran distribusi kelompok ikan dilakukan dengan cara mejpplotkan deviasi back scattered energy, pada garis lintang dan garis bujur area sutiei, kedalarnan, suhu, serta salinitas dengan bantuan s(?fiware Surfer. Pe~gambaran struktur kelompok ikan dilakukan dengan menganalisis deskriptor ak$tik dengan anal isis statistik, meliputi: analisis komponen utama, analisis ko~lasi kanonik, anal isis gerombol, dan analisis diskriminan. ::J Distribusi kelompok ikan di Teluk Bintuni berdasarkan waktu, garis bujur, gT lintang dan kedalaman tidak memperlihatkan suatu pola tertentu. Be~asarkan garis lintang dan garis bujur keberadaan kelompok ikan terClistribusi di bagian tengah teluk (132.5- 133.53 °BT) dan berdasarkan lapisan kedalaman distribusi kepadatan relatif kelompok ikan terkonsentrasi pada kedalaman 5-30 meter. Struktur kelompok ikan an tar waktu pengamatan kurang terindikasi melalui deskriptor batimetrik, tetapi lebih terindikasi melalui deskriptor morfometrik dan deskriptor energetik. Indikasi struktur kelompok ikan melalui deskriptor batimetrik, morfometrik, dan energetik antar waktu pengamatan memberikan informasi bahwa rata-rata kelompok ikan dilihat dari posisi pada koJom pcrairan bcrada pada lapisan alas, bcrbcntuk lonjong dcngan luas kclompok tel§jlong sempit, memiliki nilai reverberasi sedang, dan cenderung untuk tidak bealang ke dalam bentuk yang sama (bersifat acak).
