Respon Fisiologis Padi Gogo Lokal Asal Pulau Sumba terhadap Berbagai Kondisi Naungan
Abstract
Upland rice cultivation under shading condition requires low light intensity (shade) and drought tolerant rice varieties. The objective of the study was to evaluate the physiological responses of local upland rice from Sumba Island under several shading conditions. The shading condition treatments consisted of 0%, 55%, and 85% shading. The observations were carried out on vegetative and reproductive characters, leaves chlorophyll content, stomatal pore width and density. Vegetative characters were observed weekly, while the reproductive characters were observed at the harvest time. Shading condition treatments decreased total leaves and productive tillers, but increased plants height. It also increased the chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophyll content and decreased stomatal density.
