Pengukuran konsumsi oksigen benih ikan kerapu bebek ( Cornileptes altivelis) dengan closed respirometer sederhana

Abstract

In general, measurement of fish oxygen consumption level is carried out by using respirometer. But in Indonesia, this respirometer has not been commonly used due to its expensive especially for fish. Based on that, researchers have tried to make a simple respirometer that can be used for measuring oxygen consumption level of fish. In this research, juveniles of humpback grouper (Cromileptes altivelis) with lenght size of 5 - 7 em were used as objects of the research. The result showed that, the constructed-respirometer could be used for measuring disolved oxygen concentration in the water where juveniles were placed. Furthermore, by applying Schreck and Moyle (1990) equations, the measured of oxygen consumption level of a juvenile is 0.748 mg02/hour/juvenile or if it is based on weight is 0.212 mg02/gr/hour.
