      Abstract
      In the environment, detergent effluent has been a concern due to its abundance and it has not been handled well. Detergent can reduce the quality of water. Membrane is one alternative to filter detergent effluent. In this research, the membranes were made from organic material, i.e. cellulose acetate-polymers and nonionic surfactant (nonylphenol ethoxylate /NPE) with composition of 0; 1; 3; 5% (w/v). The membranes were tested for their water flux and rejection index. Water flux and rejection index were used to measure permeability and selectivity of the membrane. The results indicated that the increasing of NPE increased the average water flux. Rejection index-test was applied to detergent solution with concentration of 1600 ppm. The resulting rejection index values were 40% (NPE 1%), 64% (NPE 3%), and 92% (NPE 5%) which indicated that the membrane could be used in the separation of detergent effluent. The best of membrane could be used in the separation of detergent solution is at 5% NPE concentration with rejection index above 90%.
       
      Limbah detergen di lingkungan telah menjadi perhatian karena jumlahnya yang semakin banyak tetapi belum ditangani dengan baik. Limbah detergen ini dapat menurunkan muttu air. Alternatif pengolahan yang dapat digunakan adalah membran yang dapat diaplikasikan untuk menyaring limbah detergen tersebut. Membran dalam penelitian ini dibuat dari bahan organik, yaitu dari polimer-selulosa asetat dan surfaktan nonionik (nonilfenol etoksilat/NPE) dengan komposisi 0; 1; 3; 5% (b/v). Membran ini diuji nilai fluks air dan indeks rejeksi. Nilai fluks air dan indeks rejeksi digunakan sebagai ukuran permeabilitas dan selektivitas membran. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pertambahan NPE meningkatkan nilai rerata fluks air. Pengujian indeks rejeksi dinilai pada larutan detergen dengan konsentrasi 1600 ppm. Nilai indeks rejeksi yang dihasilkan sebesar 40% (NPE 1%), 64% (NPE 3%), dan 92% (NPE 5%) yang membuktikan membran ini dapat digunakan dalam pemisahan detergen. Membran terbaik yang dapat digunakan dalam pemisahan larutan detergen ialah pada konsentrasi NPE 5% yang memiliki nilai indeks rejeksi di atas 90%.
