      Abstract
Solar radiation is one of climate variables that greatly affects potato production (Solanum tuberosum L.). Solar radiation interception shows the amount of solar radiation which falls on the crop canopy reduced by radiation transmitted to the bottom of crop canopy. Solar radiation interception is determined by LAI (leaf are index). The amount of radiation intercepted increased with increasing LAI. This study aims to find the value of RUE (radiation use efficiency) of potato crop of Granola and Atlantic varieties. The variables used to determine RUE was potato biomass and global solar radiation obtained from the Climatological Station of Kayu Aro. Radiation use efficiency is the ratio between increase in biomass and the amount of solar radiation intercepted by the crop's canopy. The results of this study indicate that the value of RUE (above ground biomass) of Granola variety was 0,31 g.MJ-1 and Atlantic variety was 0,49 g.MJ-1, whereas the value of RUE (total biomass) Granola variety was 2,22 g.MJ-1 and Atlantic variety was 3,02 g.MJ-1.
