Simulasi Dispersi Gas Karbon Monoksida (CO) dalam Gardu Tol menggunakan Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Studi Kasus: Gerbang Tol Bogor
Simulation of Karbon Monoxide (CO) Dispersion in Toll Booth using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Abstract
Toll gate is one of potential location that can be used to measure the pollutant content, especially the carbon monoxide (CO). The existence of the contaminant in the form of CO will increase as the vehicle volume increase. The air quality observation either inside or outside the toll booth is needed to control the pollutant existence. One of the ways is by doing the pollutant dispersion simulation using model or software to identify the pollutant exposure potential. The objective of this study is to understand and compare the CO flow pattern and dispersion in four cases consisted of two different toll booth with two different CO concentration values. Measurement for concentration, temperature, and velocity was conducted at Bogor’s toll gate. Simulation of flow for gas and air inside the toll booth then was performed by CFD approach using computational code Fluent. The turbulence flow was computed using k-epsilon model. The measurement results show that the wind velocity at the hour-1 (0,7 m/s) is higher than the velocity at the hour-4 (0,5 m/s). On the other hand, the concentration of CO measured at hour-1 (7,5 (ppm) is nine time lower than the concentration measured at hour-4 (68 (ppm). The simulation results show that the distribution of wind velocity and dispersion of CO in Geometry A is much favourable than those in Geometry B. This is due to air with the pollutant are more likely to last longer on the geometry that has a larger volume and has a location of outflow far from the inlet.
