      Abstract
      In gold mining, its processing always produce wastes called tailing. Tailing contain contaminated materials and heavy metals, so that tailing disposal becomes problem for the environment. In order to reduce the concentration can be done through amelioration. Ameliorant agent that recognized as effective, inexpensive as organic matter. In this study, organic matter applied are sludge of paper mill and manure in dose ratio of 25% and 50% of tailing. Metals concentration were observed in the days of 1, 7, and 15 after incubation. While microbs population were accessed in the days of 1 and 15 after incubation. The results showed that sludge of paper mill in dose ratio of 50% of tailing were among the best treatment to decreased the concentration of Cd (91,62%), Fe (34,04%), Pb (18,20%), dan sianida (<0,001 ppm).
       
      Pengolahan pertambangan emas yang tidak diperlukan menghasilkan bahan sisa yang disebut tailing. Tailing mengandung bahan tercemar dan konsentrasi logam yang tinggi, sehingga pembuangan tailing dapat menjadi masalah bagi lingkungan. Penurunan konsentrasi logam secara efektif dapat ditempuh melalui ameliorasi. Bahan amelioran yang dapat digunakan antara lain bahan organik. Pada penelitian ini bahan organik yang digunakan adalah sludge dan pupuk kandang dengan perbandingan dosis 25% dan 50% terhadap tailing. Pengukuran konsentrasi logam dilakukan pada inkubasi hari ke-1, 7, dan 15. Pengukuran total fungi dan mikrob dilakukan pada inkubasi hari ke-1 dan ke-15. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan paling efektif adalah sludge dengan perbandingan dosis 50% terhadap tailing pada waktu inkubasi 15 hari dapat menurunkan konsentrasi Cd (91,62%), Fe (34,04%), Pb (18,20%), dan sianida (<0,001 ppm).
