Development and Testing of Organic Container Seedlings for forest tree production of Gmelina (Gmelina arborea Roxb.) in the Nursery
Abstract
Organic Container Seedlings (OCS) is a container seedling made from organic materials used for forest trees seedling production its easily decomposer. OCS have an advanlage compared to polybags and environmentally friendly. The objective of this study was to develop container seedling based organic matter materials for forest trees seedling stock production. This study used Completely Randomized Experimental Design with 2 factors experiment, namely raw material composition and natural adhesive. The observed seedling growth, seedling height, seedling diameter, variables top root ratio and plants biomass. The data obtained were analyzed with F test (Analysis of Variance), further test and with Duncan multiple range test. The result showed that the interaction between raw material composition and natural adhesive had highly significant effect on gmelina growth in the nursery. Raw material has highly significant effect on top root ratio and biomass plant. The raw material of news paper : compos 1:1 sive the best performance of seedling growth, and increased their height and diameter by 3.90% and 1.07% respectively, whereas the adhesive of tannin was better than tapioca. Wadah semai organik adalah wadah semai yang terbuat dari bahan organik yang digunakan untuk pembibitan yang mudah terurai. Wadah semai memiliki keuntungan dibandingkan dengan polybag dan ramah lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat wadah semai berbahan dasar organik untuk persediaan pembibitan benih. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Percobaan Acak Lengkap dengan 2 faktor percobaan, yaitu komposisi bahan baku dan perekat alami. Pertumbuhan bibit yang diamati yaitu tinggi benih, diameter bibit, variabel rasio akar dan biomassa tanaman. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji F (Analisis Varians), pengujian lebih lanjut dengan Uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara komposisi bahan baku dan perekat alami memiliki efek yang sangat signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan Gmelina (Gmelina arborea) di persemaian. Bahan baku memiliki efek yang sangat signifikan pada rasio akar dan biomassa tanaman. Bahan baku kertas Koran Kompos memberikan pertumbuhan terbaik untuk pertumbuhan benih, dan meningkatkan tinggi dan diameter berturut-turut sebesar 3,90% dan 1,07%, sedangkan perekat tanin lebih baik dari tapioka.
