      Abstract
      Sago is one important alternative food diversification. Determination sago land as a sustainable food farming land needs to consider sago food needs, distribution, productivity and level of sago utilization. The purposes of this study are (1)To identify the food needs of local sago, (2)To identify of distribution and utilization of sago forest as other its utilization by people, and (3) To develop scenarios to determine the sago forest area that deserve to be recommended as sustainable agricultural food carried out in Jayapura Papua Province. The result showed there are four of vegetated sago area of 2909.8 ha of sago which is comprised of the Harapan area, Kehiran, Sosiri and Maribu. Types of sago based on habitat and cultivation consists of sago cultivation areas (dusun sagu), sago natural forest, sago swamps, and the sago mixture. Types of sago based on morphology diversity just on dusun sagu area while in other areas only forest sago (mano/manino). The highest productivity is the Kehiran region with clump density 711 clump/ha and 133 stands ready for harvest/ha. Use type of sago utilization is same for all areas only on the intensity of their use are different. Requirement sago land for the consumption of sago in location of research and contribution to the Jayapura regency is sufficient from of sago land existing. 950.1 ha of sago cultivation areas for LP2B plan, especially development on the fringes of Sentani Lake. 1.508,3 ha of potential sago land for LCP2B plan other than those already proposed for plan of LP2B areas. KP2B includes LP2B, LCP2B, sago swamps and supporting elements of an area of 2.458,4 ha.
