KANDUNGAN NUTRISI DAN KECERNAAN IN VITRO BUNGKIL BIJI JARAK PAGAR (Jatropha curcas L.) TERDETOKSIFIKASI
Abstract
Detoxified jatropha meal has a great potential as animal feedstuff. So far, there are no sophisticated detoxification methods available. Curcin and phorbolester are the main toxic compounds that could be eliminated by methanol extraction However, the treatment is economically unreasonable. Alternative detoxification method using alkali and anti-tumor agent (turmeric) have been tried. Three origins of Indonesian jatropha (Lampung = L, Kebumen = K and Lombok Timur = LT) were used to investigate the effect of 5 levels detoxification methods. They were 0% (T1), 0.5% (T2), 1.0% (T3) and 1.5% (T4) of turmeric and 4% NaOH + 10% NaOCI (T5). All treatments followed by wet heat treatment Nutritional and anti-nutritiona composition as well as digestibility changed had been investigated The proximate compositior included dry matter (DM), ash, crude protein, lipid and crude fiber had been determined. Curcir and phorbolester contents had been detected using HPLC. Rate of organic matter fermentatior to form gas was measured following Menke procedure. DMD and OMD were determined according to two step methods by Tilley and Terry. Detoxification increase CP and ash but reduce CF contents. Wet heat treatment shrank 60% of curcin content. T5 reduced 44% of phorbolester content (up to 0.65 mg/g) but still could not be categorized as a safety feed for animal. The treatments protected jatropha meal from rumen degradation partly but not post rumen. Neither origin nor treatments influenced DMD and OMD treated jatropha.
