Deteksi keberadaan virus avian influenza Subtipe H5 pada kucing jalanan (Felis silvestris catus) Di beberapa pasar tradisional Di wilayah Kota Bogor
Abstract
Avian influenza or bird flu is disease of poultry caused by influenza type A virus. This disease can also infects some other animals : pig, horse, seal, fox tiger and cat. Bogor is endemic area of avian influenza in poultry. In Bogor city, stray cat usually roaming around in several traditional markets in Bogor city, especially that selling of life bird and poultry meat. The aim of this research is to study avian influenza infection in stray cat and tradisional market in bogor city. Eigthy two samples of serum and rectal swab were taken from stray cat wich roaming around in several traditional markets in Bogor city. Serological examination were done by HI test. Virus isolation and identification were done by inoculated the rectal swab to SPF egg and identified by HA test and PCR. Result of HI test showed 16 positive out of 82 samples, sera virus isolation and identification by HA test were and PCR showed negative result. These data revealed that cats in traditional markets may be were infected by H5N1 virus, but not yet shedding the virus in feses.
