      Abstract
Brown planthopper (Nilapavarta lugens) is one pest that attack rice crop. Brown planthopper attack can cause 80% crop failure of the total area. Brown planthopper pest must be controlled and monitored periodically in order to reduce losses suffered by farmers. Analysis of brown planthopper pest in a wide area requires method by utilizing remote sensing technology. This research utilizing remote sensing technology by using terra MODIS data. Indramayu district is one of the rice crop production centers that often attacked by brown planthopper pest. This research aims to determine the ability of brown planhopper pest detection using satellite Terra MODIS data at Indramayu district. In this research, brown planhoppers pest attack analysis was used Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and Land Surface Temperature (LST) MODIS data. When attacked by brown planthoppers range value of EVI is 0,097 – 0,488 and range value of LST is 20,30C – 37,50C. Correlation between EVI and LST when attacked by brown planthopper pests forming TVBI (Temperature Vegetation Brown planthopper Index) model. In this model brown planhopper pest collected on 3 area, that is Area I when EVI 0,268 – 0,424 and LST 24,510C – 30,640C, Area II when EVI 0,164 – 0,26 and LST 26 0C – 30,660C, and the last Area III when EVI 0,158 – 0,288 and LST 30,270C – 37,50C. TVBI value calculated by approach TVDI (Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index) method. TVBI is an index that describes the humidity condition of rice crop potentially attacked by brown planthopper. TVBI formula for indramayu are: TVBI = (LST-(27,12-19,38*EVI)) / ((38,25-26,49*EVI)-(27,12-19,38*EVI)) for EVI<0,368 and TVBI = (LST-20)/((38,25-26,49*EVI)-20) for EVI>0,368. Range value of TVBI when attacked by brown planhopper pest is 0,36-1,01. This range value can detect 51,96% of all pest attack data and 71,43% of data when attacked by pest. Depends on TVBI model 69% brown planthopper pest attack when rice crop are dry, mostly brown planhopper pest attacking when generatif phase of rice crop at Indramayu district.
