Profil imunohistokimia antioksidan superoksida dismutase (SOD) pada usus halus tikus yang diberi probiotik dan enteropathogenic e. coli (EPEC)
Abstract
The study was conducted to analyse the influence of probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus fermentum on immunohistochemical profile of antioxidant superoxide dismutase (Cu,Zn-SOD) in small intestine of Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC)-treated Rats. A total of 90 male rats (Sprague Dawley) were used in this study. They were devided into 6 groups; negative control group (A), Lactobacillus plantarum treated group (B), Lactobacillus fermentum treated group (C), Lactobacillus plantarum and EPEC treated group (D), Lactobacillus fermentum and EPEC treated group (E), and EPEC treated group (F). The content of antioxidant cooper, zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu,Zn-SOD) were detected immunohistochemically using monoclonal antibody of Cu,Zn-SOD. The result showed that Lactobacillus fermentum treatment increased the content of Cu,Zn-SOD in rats small intestine at both condition; without EPEC treatment and with EPEC treatment. However Lactobacillus plantarum increased the content of Cu,Zn-SOD in rats small intestine only at condition without EPEC treatment. While, at EPEC treated rats, the lactobacillus plantarum treatment could maintain the content of Cu,Zn-SOD as well as negative control group. Lactobacillus fermentum showed better effect on increasing the content of Cu,Zn-SOD in rats small intestine.
