      Abstract
Community's trend in the use of plant for medical treatment or beauty has opened a chance in the biopharmacy agribusiness in Indonesia. Turmeric as one of a rhizome plant has an important role in medicinal plant industry. Quality of turmeric's product is definited by the content of curcumin, performance and size of rhizome. Most of all, curcumin's quality depend on interaction between the genetic factor and growth environment. This research was aimed to study the relation between rhizome and bioactive turmeric production and land quality in order to determine land evaluation criteria and to evaluate land evaluation criteria on some samples from Bogor. This research was an extention from an earlier studies which were done at Icaranganyar Central Java, Ngawi and Lamongan East Java in 2004, and followed by other studies in Sukabumi, Indramayu, Cianjur and Bogor West Java. Soil and bio active analysis were conducted in Soil Chemical and Fertility laboratory in Department of Soil and Land resourcces and in Biopharmacy laboratory IPB. Results of the study indicated that the relation between rhizome and curcumin production and land qualities spread with such particular pattern which is convined with boundary line. By making the production classes for S2, S3 and N with each class values by 85%, 60% and 30%, where 30% is the break event point of productivity. The limits of every classes in the land evaluation criteria for each land qualities can be made by creating a projection of intersection between the boundary line and the yield cut off. The land evaluation criteria that was an exploration study base, did not evaluate entirely all of the crop requirements. More data from a wider soil agroclimate zone therefore would be greatly appreciated.
