Pengaruh Manipulasi Bentuk Buah Terhadap Kualitas Buah Melon (Cucumis melo L.) Hidroponik

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the effect of fruit shape manipulation on fruit quality of hydroponic melon. Different physical appearance it will raise the price of melon fruit. This study was conducted at Cikabayan (green house unit –University Farm of IPB) from July to October 2010. The research was arranged in randomized Completely Block Design with 4 replications. Five different box treatments: (P1) Box A with 7 days after anthesis (DAA) application, (P2)Box A with 14 DAA, (P3)Box B with 7 DAA, (P4)Box B with 14DAA, (P0) Control (not uses box). The result of this study show fruit shape manipulation is significantly different result to fruit quality factor (fruit peel firmness, flesh firmness and fruit peel thickness). Box treatment application in 7 days after anthesis (DAA) is recommended because of the fruits have better square shape (physical appearance), firmness and peel thickness.
